Context
Caroline Boissier-Butini (1786-1836) was one of the most eminent Swiss musical personalities of her generation. The composer of numerous works for piano including six concerti and three sonatas, she was among the first to quote popular melodies in her music. Her work was recently brought to light through the creation of the Association and by family-member and musicologist Irène Minder-Jeanneret.
Challenge & Solution
We wanted to refresh Caroline Boissier-Butini’s brand image, ensuring we remained faithful to her era while also revealing her visionary, joyful and brazen character. We created a visual identity based on her initials that combined a custom-drawn serif font with a modern typeface (Akkurat). The letters are joined by a playful stroke that adapts in size to fit the display.
